The Tampa-St. Petersburg area is among the top metropolitan areas for women-owned businesses, according to a recent study. The report, which was conducted by American Express (NYSE: AXP), used data from the Census Bureau to rank the nation's top 50 metropolitan areas based on their growth of women-owned businesses, the number of jobs they created and the firms’ revenue growth between 2014 and 2019. Tampa Bay had the 12th highest growth of women-owned businesses and 25th best growth for new jobs. Overall, the bay area had the fourth best job growth and third best new job creation among Florida’s metro areas. Over the last five years, Miami had the fourth best business growth overall and the best growth in Florida.
