Lam Research's most recent trend suggests a bearish bias. One trading opportunity on Lam Research is a Bear Call Spread using a strike $75.00 short call and a strike $80.00 long call offers a potential 21.95% return on risk over the next 7 calendar days. Maximum profit would be generated if the Bear Call Spread were to expire worthless, which would occur if the stock were below $75.00 by expiration. The full premium credit of $0.90 would be kept by the premium seller. The risk of $4.10 would be incurred if the stock rose above the $80.00 long call strike price.
The 5-day moving average is moving down which suggests that the short-term momentum for Lam Research is bearish and the probability of a decline in share price is higher if the stock starts trending.
The 20-day moving average is moving down which suggests that the medium-term momentum for Lam Research is bearish.
The RSI indicator is at 22.75 level which suggests that the stock is neither overbought nor oversold at this time.

Barrons.com – Chip equipment vendor KLA-Tencor (KLAC), which is in the process of being acquired by Lam Research (LRCX), this afternoon reported fiscal Q3 revenue that missed analysts' expectations, and profit per share that topped consensus, and forecast this quarter's results comfortably ahead. KLA's report follows a report a week ago by Lam of fiscal Q3 revenue in line with analysts’ expectations, and earnings per share that topped consensus, and a forecast for this quarter’s results that was above consensus. In commenting on the results, KLA lauded its own performance: KLA-Tencor performed well and consistent with our expectations in the third quarter of fiscal year 2016, demonstrating solid execution of our strategic objectives and delivering bookings, shipments, and revenue within the range of guidance, with GAAP and non-GAAP earnings per share finishing above the range of guidance for the quarter. A key highlight in the quarter was initial bookings and shipments of multiple units of our next-generation “GEN5” Broadband Plasma Optical Inspection Platform.
