Bulls In Control As 2021 Begins |
The bulls are in firm control of the major indexes as 2021 kicks off on Monday. As usual, we'll want to keep an eye on the 50-day SMA on SPY, DIA & QQQ for a trend change on the daily charts. I also cover AAPL, TSLA, AMZN, VIX, TLT, UUP, USO, GLD and more. Happy New Year! Ron |
Bulls Charging Higher Right On Schedule |
The bulls are sending the major indexes (SPY, DIA, QQQ & IWM) higher right on schedule. The bulls usually take a two week break around mid-month and then restart again in January. I also cover AAPL, AMZN, NFLX, TSLA, FFIV, DIS, NTAP, NVDA, ADBE, EA, GLD, TLT and more. Have a great holiday season! Ron |
Bulls in charge of S&P 500 & Dow Jones |
The bulls have the S&P 500 (SPY) and Dow Jones (DIA) both in a bullish position heading into this week. The Russell 2000 also set new all-time highs last week. I also cover AAPL, AMZN, NFLX, GOOGL, MSFT, TSLA, FFIV, STL, DIS, GLD, SLV, GDX AND more. Have a great day! Ron |
Markets are in a Holding Pattern |
The SPY, DIA and QQQ all remain in a 'holding pattern' post election. The 'big money' hasn't show its hand just yet. A break to new highs in the SPY would be technically very bullish heading into the holiday season. I also cover AAPL, FFIV, TSLA, AMZN, VIX, IYT, SMH, GLD, SLV, GDX and more. Have a great week! Ron |
Markets Teetering Ahead of Election Results... |
SPY and QQQ still remain 'rangebound' overall but DIA has broken below its recent range. However, with the election imminent, even if SPY and QQQ also break down technically on Monday... it can all be reversed in a day if the bulls like the election results. I also cover AAPL, GOOGL, AMZN, FB, MSFT, CAT, PTON, TGT, CMG and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Profit Taking Kicks In Ahead Of Election |
Today's selling pressure was able to generate a technical sell signal in SPY, DIA & QQQ. I also cover AAPL, AMZN, FB, GOOGL, TSLA, TLT, GLD, SLV, GDX and more. Have a great week! Ron |
Bulls Holding On Ahead Of Election |
Despite the S&P 500 (SPY) & Nasdaq (QQQ) both finishing red four out of five days last week, the bulls remain in technical control of the market as the Election nears. In today's video I also cover a variety of stocks with earnings reports due out this week: BMO = Before market open AMC = After market close Monday AMC:Â IBM Tuesday BMO:Â PG AMC:Â NFLX, TXN Wednesday BMO:Â WGO, AN AMC:Â TSLA, CMG, LVS, CSX, DFS Thursday BMO:Â KO, AAL, LUV, CTXS, KMB, UNP, PHM, POOL AMC:Â INTC, STX Friday BMO:Â AXP Have a great week ahead, Ron |
Bulls Take Back Control Ahead of Earnings Season & Election |
The bulls were able to take back control of the major index ETF charts this past week. I also cover AAPL, TSLA, AMZN, NFLX, MSFT, DRI, EAT, BBY, TLT, GLD, GDX, SIL, SMH, IYT and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Could October Become Shocktober? |
The bulls tried to regain the 50-day MA in SPY & QQQ but failed to do so by week's end. As a result the bears retain the overall edge heading into the first full week of October. There are certainly enough major news events over the next few weeks to turn October into Shocktober. Between the President's Covid situation, Earnings Season and Elections... the markets could go either way. I talk about what key levels to watch inside the video. I also cover AAPL, AMZN, NFLX, GOOG, NVDA, FB, MSFT, AMD, Z, TSLA, GLD, SLV, GDX, SIL and more. Have a great day! Ron |
SPY, DIA, QQQ Bearish To Start Week |
SPY, DIA, QQQ & IWM remain technically bearish to start the week. Gold & Silver are also bearish on the daily charts. I also cover AAPL, TSLA, NFLX, MSFT, ADBE, NVDA, FB, GOOGL, XOM, CVX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
SPY, QQQ & AAPL Trigger Technical Sell Signals |
SPY, QQQ & AAPL have now triggered technical sell signals, which gives the bears a clear technical edge heading into this week. Over the past few weeks, I talked about 'perfect timing' of the seasonality effect as we enter September and it has not disappointed. SPY, AAPL, AMD have fallen right on schedule producing nice wins. I also cover AMZN, GOOGL, NFLX, DIA, IWM, DAL and more. Have a great week! Ron |
AMZN, NFLX, MSFT, GOOGL Breaking Down |
Big tech stocks are starting to trigger technical sell signals. They include AMZN, NFLX, MSFT, GOOGL and the semiconductor ETF (SMH). For now, SPY & DIA are holding above their own 50-day SMAs. Caution is warranted heading into this week. I also cover AAPL, POOL, ELY, TSLA, PTON, CRM, Z, DAL, AMD, W, ETSY, SHOP and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Bulls Starting To Lose Control |
The bulls are starting to show signs they are losing their grip on the markets. However, before the bears can get too giddy, a close below the 50-day SMA would be needed to turn the charts technically bearish. For now, all that has been generated are some 'yellow flags' of caution. Keep an eye on Apple for a tell. Just like I mentioned in last week's video, AAPL has a bearish seasonal track record in September and it topped out right on schedule again. I also cover TSLA, MSFT, GOOGL, ETSY, SHOP, W, POOL, COST, WEN, DG, HD, LOW, GLD, SLV, GDX and more. Have a great week ahead! Ron |
What's Next For Apple & Tesla Post Stock Split |
The bulls continue to have a firm grip on the major indexes with SPY, DIA, QQQ & IWM all solidly bullish on the daily and weekly charts. Apple (AAPL) & Tesla (TSLA) both went through stock splits on Friday. Apple did a 4 for 1, while Tesla went 5 for 1. Both remain bullish on their daily charts but a close below the 8-day EMA could signal the short-term momentum is subsiding. Specifically to Apple, keep an eye on the all i-cool company as they often trend lower (into Oct) after their September conference. I also cover GLD, SLV, PG, KO, EA, X, INTU, MA, CRM, NVDA, AMD, DAL and more. Have a great week! Ron |
Keep an eye on AAPL |
The bulls are on a roll with S&P 500 at fresh new all time highs. In tonight's video, I discuss the seasonality effect on INTU, NVDA, MA & AAPL. I also cover AMZN, WMT, F, PTON, SHOP and more. Have a great day! Ron |
SPY Challenging All-Time Highs... |
The SPY (S&P 500 ETF) is within striking distance of setting new all-time highs. The daily charts of SPY, DIA, QQQ and IWM all remain firmly bullish heading into this week. I also cover GLD, SLV, GDX, SIL, AAPL, TSLA, AMZN, GOOGL, NVDA, WMT, FB, MSFT and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Stocks Keep On Chugging - Watch the 50-day for Signs of Trouble |
All four major index ETFs (SPY, DIA, QQQ, IWM) remain firmly bullish on the daily and weekly charts... the bulls continue to rule the roost. In tonight's video I also cover GLD, SLV, TLT, AAPL, GOOGL, AMZN, NFLX, TSLA, Z, ETSY, CMG, HOG and more. Have a great week! Ron |
Big Tech Keeps The Bulls In Charge |
Earnings last week from AAPL, AMZN, GOOGL & MSFT continue to keep the bulls in charge heading into August. I also cover GLD, SLV, GDX, SIL, FB, CAT, CL, PG and more. Have a great day! Ron |
AAPL, FB, AMZN Earnings OH MY... |
AAPL, FB, AMZN and GOOGL all reported after the bell tonight. Apple is surging above $400/share and it announced a 4-for-1 stock split, which will now make the stock more 'affordable' to more buyers. While FB lost some advertisers of late, the company still beat estimates and the stock is challenging its recent all-time highs tonight. AMZN blew through expectations and is trading $150+ higher tonight but it has not hit new all-time highs so far. Maybe the good news is finally priced into the stock. GOOGL is only trading slightly higher tonight after its latest report. Friday's close will be very important. Will profit-taking finally kick into these tech superstars or will they close at new all-time highs and re-energize the bullish trend? I'll cover all of these stock again in the weekend update video. Have a great day! Ron |
QQQ's Starting To Get Hit With Profit Taking |
The QQQ's finally closed beneath its 20-day EMA on Friday for the first time in nearly 4 months. AAPL, AMZN and GOOGL all report on Thursday night, which could either send the QQQ's back to new all-time highs or finally invoke some real profit taking. I also cover FB, MCD, WEN, PII, BYD, CAT, WY, NFLX, DPZ, TSLA and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Chipotle, Tesla Earnings Are Out & Hi-Ho Silver... |
Chipotle (CMG), Tesla (TSLA), Microsoft (MSFT) are all out with earnings after the bell tonight. I also review NTGR, IRBT, KO, TXN, NFLX, GLD, SLV and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Earnings To Watch This Week: CMG, POOL, LVS, AXP, TSLA |
The bulls remain in charge of the daily and weekly charts heading into the heart of earnings season. NFLX did close lower on Friday due to its own earnings report but it remains technically bullish on the daily chart. Keep an eye on the 20-day EMA & 50-day SMA. This week's earnings reports to watch include: Mon - IBM Tue - KO, CIT, UAL, TXN Wed - CMG, LVS, MSFT, NTGR, TSLA Thu - AAL, LUV, KMB, POOL, PHM, TSCO, UNP Fri - AXP Have a great day! Ron |
Lagging Stocks Starting To Lead The Way Higher |
Stocks that haven't 'felt the love' of the recent massive rally are starting to find 'some love' after today's push higher. The Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) led the charge with an impressive 3.67% on well above average volume. Stocks like DAL, CAKE, DRI, MGM & F all broke out to the upside on strong volume as well. I also cover TSLA, NKLA, BYD, ROKU, DPZ, NFLX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Earnings Season Kicks Off This Week - Banks, Netflix, Dominos |
Earnings Season officially kicks off this week with the Banks, Netflix & Dominos. Other major names to watch include PEP, DAL, PGR, UNH, JBHT, JNJ, KSU. Have a great day! Ron |
Tech Stocks Getting Tired... |
The Nasdaq was up over 100 points earlier in the day before finishing in the red. Stocks like AMZN & TSLA are starting to show signs of fatigue. I also cover AAPL, EBAY, WMT, AXP, WYNN, LVS, MAR, HLT, H, SBUX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Bulls In Control As Earnings Season Nears |
The SPY, DIA and QQQ are all bullish on their daily and weekly charts as earnings season approaches. The QQQ's are sitting at all-time highs, again. I also review AAPL, TSLA, NVDA, FB, AMZN, POOL, NKLA, GLD, VIX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Watch The 50-day on SPY & DIA This Week |
The Dow Jones ETF (DIA) hit its 50-day SMA (institutional moving average) on Friday. The S&P 500 ETF (SPY) is inches away heading into this week. If both of these major index ETFs close below their respective 50-day SMAs, it will give the bears the edge on the daily charts. I also review AAPL, XLF, GS, BAC, JPM, WFC, MAR, HLT, H, JNJ, DIS, DBX, NEM vs GDX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Dow Drops 710 Points - 50-day MA is Key |
The Dow Jones dropped 710 points today and is closing in on the 50-day institutional moving average. A close beneath it will give the bears a technical edge on the daily charts. I also cover TSLA, AAPL, SWKS, BBY, SPG, CAKE, CVX, NOV, DRI, UBER, VIX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Nasdaq Sets Another All-Time High |
The Nasdaq (QQQ) set another fresh all-time closing high today and remains the strongest of the big 3 indexes. I also cover WYNN, LVS, CAKE, RUTH, DRI, NKLA, ANF, AEO, SPY, DIA, VIX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
S&P, Dow, Nasdaq Trying To Fill 'Gaps' |
Despite the rally from last Thursday's mega sell off, the S&P 500, Dow Jones and Nasdaq still haven't filled their 'gaps'. The short-term trend on the daily charts is bullish. If the indexes close at new all-time highs, it would negate the 'island reversal' pattern printed last week. I also cover PZZA, DPZ, BBBY, AAPL, ORCL, NKLA, VIX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Markets Precariously Perched Heading Into This Week |
The 'island reversal' patterns from Thursday are still in play for this week. SPY is technically bearish (albeit barely) on the daily chart, but bullish on the weekly chart... for now. I also cover AAPL, AMZN, FB, GOOGL, MSFT, PTON, BABA, TSLA, CLX, SMH, XLF, IYT, GLD, GDX and more. Have a great week! Ron |
Dow Crashes 1,861 Points - Here We Go Again... |
The Dow lost 1,861 points today and finished at the lows of the day... on a spike in volume. The gap down today created an 'island reversal' which is not a good sign if you're a bull. If the S&P500 and Dow Jones both finish lower on Friday, it will create a bearish engulfing candle on the weekly charts... this is also a bad omen for the bulls. In today's video, I cover the downside targets for the three major indexes along with AAPL, FB, AMZN, SBUX, CAKE, RRGB, WEN, MCD, CMG, RUTH, VLO, CVX, CAT, MA, V, DIS, SIL, GDX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Happy Days Are Here Again... |
The Nasdaq (via the QQQ's) hit fresh new all time highs on Friday signaling 'happy days are here again' apparently. The Dow jumped 820 points and the S&P 500 tacked on 81 points. While the current rally may seem disconnected from reality, the 20-day EMA has proven to be a fantastic guide on the way up. Keep an eye on this key shorter-term moving average for a sign the party is over. I also cover AAPL, GOOGL, AMZN, FB, SBUX, MCD, DE, AAL, DAL, XLF, JPM, GLD and more. Have a fantastic day, Ron |
Nasdaq Set For All-Time Highs |
The Nasdaq (QQQ) is now within one more up day of setting fresh new all-time highs. The major index ETFs remain bullish on their daily charts. I also cover Zoom's (ZM) earnings move after the bell tonight along with DKS, TIF, MMM, MSFT, GE, NEM, RGLD and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Watch This For A Sign Of Trouble... |
The major indexes remain bullish on their respective daily charts heading into this week. Keep an eye on the 20-day EMA for a 'canary in the coal mine'. I also cover CMG, SBUX, PHM, TOL, XLF, GLD, SLV, GDX, NEM, RGLD, GOLD, GDX, GDXJ and more. Have a great day! Ron |
SPY Now Above its 200-day SMA |
The S&P 500 ETF (SPY) is now above its 200-day SMA, which puts the all-time highs as the next major technical target. The banking ETF XLF did print a bearish engulfing candle today. I also review FB, TWTR, GOOGL, SHOP, W, ETSY, PEP, M, BBY, FXI, GLD, SLV, GDX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
SPY Stuck at 200-day SMA |
The major indexes remain bullish on their daily charts heading into a holiday shortened week. The Nasdaq (QQQ) remains the strongest, while SPY remains stuck just beneath its 200-day SMA (major institutional moving average). I also cover DE vs. CAT vs. IR, DAL, AAL, UAL, W, ETSY, EWW, XLF, AAPL and more. Happy Memorial Day and have a great week ahead, Ron |
HD, WMT Lower on earnings - TGT, NVDA up next |
Walmart (WMT) reported earnings before the bell today and they blew away estimates but most of the increase was not from higher profit items. The stock gapped higher upon the open to $131.75 but finished down at $124.95 on a surge in volume. This showed traders were selling the robust report and in doing so, it printed a massive bearish engulfing pattern. Home Depot (HD) lost 2.95% today on the heels of its latest quarterly report. I also cover NVDA, TGT, EA, SHOP, K, PG and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Nasdaq Refuses To Blink... |
The Nasdaq refuses to blink when any selling pressure hits the market right now. Its technical upside target remains the all-time highs, which aren't far off. The Dow and S&P 500 are in 'neutral' territory on the daily charts heading into this week. I also cover KO vs. PEP, AAPL, TSLA, XLF, NVDA, NFLX, GLD, SIL, GDX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Markets Starting To Show Signs Of Rolling Over |
After printing a bearish engulfing pattern on Tuesday, both SPY (S&P 500 ETF) and DIA (Dow Jones ETF) followed through with another down day today on an increase in volume. And, they both finished below their respective 20-day EMAs. These are the signs of when a market is tired and beginning to 'roll over'. I outline what key areas to watch for a breakdown. I also cover AAPL, NFLX, DAL, AAL, CAKE, RUTH, DRI, MCD, MGM, CAR, JPM, BAC, C & more. Have a great day! Ron |
Nasdaq Has All-Time Highs Within Reach |
The major indexes continue to push higher and as crazy as it might sound... the Nasdaq has its all-time highs within reach. In tonight's video I cover GLD, SLV, AAPL, TSN, EAT, EXPE, LVS, KHC, M, EEM, EWZ and more. Happy Mother's Day! Ron |
Watch This For Signs Of A Reversal On High Flyers |
With so many folks staying home nationwide, some online stocks have been heading into the stratosphere. In tonight's video, I highlight what could be the first sign of a reversal in stocks like Wingstop (WING), Shopify (SHOP), Wayfair (W), Papa John's (PZZA) and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Where's The Beef (and chicken)? |
McDonald's (MCD), Tyson (TSN), Kroger (KR) and now Wendy's (WEN) has joined the food shortage watch list. WEN is due to report earnings tomorrow morning, but earlier today there were reports the company is literally running out of beef at nearly 1/5th of its restaurants. I also cover RMBS, AAPL, TSLA, GOOGL, BA, GE, HSY, UTX, FB and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Bulls Get Edge To Start Week But... |
The major indexes sold off on Friday but remain bullish on the daily charts heading into this week. Another large down move on Monday could trigger some sell signals. Berkshire reportedly announced they exited all of their US airline shares, highlighting their lack of confidence in a return to normalcy once the virus fears subside. I also discuss AAPL, GOOGL, AMZN, FB, DAL, UAL, AAL, HTZ, CAT, MCD, WEN, CMG and more. Have a great day, Ron |
Amazon Drops, Apple Flat On Earnings Tonight |
The major indexes remain in a technical bullish trend on the daily charts. Apple, Amazon, Visa and United Airlines released earnings after the bell tonight. Apple is flat so far, while Amazon is dropping $100+. I also cover GLD, MCD, FB, MO, BAX, TXT and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Dow Closes Above Its 50-day SMA |
The major indexes continue to push higher, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (DIA) closing above its 50-day SMA. I also discuss SPY, QQQ, IWM, GLD, SLV, GDX, TLT, EWW and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Bulls Have Edge To Start Week & Big Earnings On Tap |
The SPY, DIA and QQQ remain bullish on the daily charts heading into this week. Resistance and support points are inside the video. The earnings deluge continues this week with some big hitters reporting like AAPL, AMZN, FB, GOOGL, CAT, PEP, MCD and more... Tuesday:Â MMM, PEP, UPS, CAT, DRH, LUV, HOG, PII, GOOG Wednesday:Â BA, GE, MA, HAS, YUM (KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell), DIN (Applebees, House of Pancakes), ADP, NSC, APRN, VLO, MSFT, TSLA, FB Thursday:Â MCD, KHC, AAL, SIX, COP, DNKN, IMAX, K, AMZN, UAL, X, AAPL Friday:Â BRK.B, CVX, XOM, HON, CL, EL, WY Have a great week! Ron |
Hershey's, Citrix, Crox Rollover On Earnings |
Hershey's (HSY), Citrix (CTXS) and Crox (CROX) reported their latest quarterly results this morning and all three rolled over on above average volume. I also cover DPZ, PHM, DOW, POOL, INTC, SKX and more. Have a fantastic Friday and a great weekend ahead, Ron |
Tech Stocks Roll Over - Canary In The Coal Mine |
The major indexes did finish lower today but Tech was the most notable. Sellers finally hit AAPL, GOOGL, AMZN, NVDA & SMH. The QQQ's finished right on their 50-day SMA. In tonight's video, I covered companies who reported earnings today... NFLX, SNAP, CMG, TXN, KO and EDU. Plus there is a huge cross section of the economy reporting tomorrow in DAL, T, KMB, DGX, CSX, LRCX, AA, WHR, DFS, STX, ORLY and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Oil Trades Below Zero |
The major indexes finished lower on the day but remain technically bullish on the daily charts. Crude Oil actually traded below zero today for the first time ever and finished the day at -$37.63 per barrel... it sounds like some traders got caught and were unable to exit their positions at a reasonable price before day's end. The June contract is still pricing out around $21 per barrel. Earnings season goes into overdrive starting tomorrow. We will see a wide array of companies reporting like NFLX, TXN, TER, TRV, SNAP, KO, PM, CMG and others. I also cover HAL, CVX, AAPL, GOOGL and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Earnings Season Kicks Into High Gear This Week |
The S&P 500 (SPY), Dow Jones (DIA) and Nasdaq (QQQ) remain bullish on their daily charts, with the QQQs now in the green since Jan 1 (amazing). So far, earnings season has not produced any massive pops or drops but that could potentially change this week as the 'floodgates open' with a ton of big names due to report. In today's video, I also cover AAPL, GOOGL, XOM, NOV, VLO, CVX, BUD, DE, CAT, WFC, JPM, GLD, GDX, SLV, SIL and more. Have a great week! Ron |
Earnings Continue: BLK, TSM, RAD, ISRG |
The major indexes pulled back on Wednesday but the overall short-term trend remains bullish on the daily chart. Today we saw a mixed bag of earnings reports with GS & UNH moving higher and BAC falling 6.49%. Tomorrow we have BLK, TSM, RAD, ISRG on deck to report. I also cover AAPL, ZM, TSLA, DAL, UAL and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Apple Triggers Buy Signal... |
The major indexes finished solidly higher to kick off earnings season despite two big bank stocks (JPM, WFC) finishing lower on the day. Apple (AAPL) triggered a technical buy signal today when it closed above its 50-day SMA. AMZN and NFLX are reaching for the stratosphere, which helped the QQQ's also trigger a buy signal. I also cover BAC, UNH, C, GS, PNC, USB, PGR, BBBY, JNJ and more. Have a great day! Ron |
The Fun Begins - JPM, WFC, JNJ Report Tuesday Pre-Market |
The major indexes finished mixed today with S&P 500, Dow Jones and Russell 2000 in the red, while the Nasdaq was in the green thanks to Amazon's $126 jump. Today's moves won't matter much now that earnings season kicks off tomorrow with some big hitters in... JPM, WFC & JNJ. I also cover GLD, ULTA, CAT, DE, LEN, KBH, XHB and more. Have a great week! Ron |
Grab The Popcorn - Earnings Season Begins |
The S&P 500, Dow Jones and Nasdaq are all technically bullish on the daily charts. In fact, each of them have retraced 50% of the record setting decline already. But none of that will matter starting on Tuesday when the most anticipated earnings season in decades begins. Guidance across the board will likely be pulled and the aftermath of an economic shutdown will start to be revealed (and it will likely be beyond ugly for most companies). Here is a brief list of some important companies due to report this week: Monday: none. Tuesday: JNJ, JPM, FAST, JBHT Wednesday: BAC, GS, DAL, BBBY, UNH Thursday: BLK, TSM, RAD, MO, ISRG Friday: SLB, KSU Happy Easter to you and your family, Ron |
Bulls Push Stocks Back Up To Yesterday's Highs |
The bulls were able to push stocks back up to yesterday's highs. Thursday is the last trading day of the week due to the Easter Holiday Weekend. (US Stock Market is closed on Friday). I also cover MAR, HLT, H, IHG, MGM, WYNN, EEM, EWG, EWQ, EWI, EWN and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Stocks Reverse Hard Off Their Highs |
The major index ETFs (DIA, SPY, QQQ, IWM) gapped higher upon the open and then quickly reversed to close at their lows of the day. Today's reversal could be potentially attributed to the fact earnings season is now only a week away. With the current length of the quarantines still unknown, we could see individual companies skyrocket or crash as each report is announced. It certainly should not be boring. I also cover MCD, AAPL, DE, MA, V, PG, HLT, MAR, CAKE, DAL, ZM, TSLA and more. Have a great day! Ron |
SPY & DIA Breakout |
The S&P 500 ETF (SPY) and the Dow Jones ETF (DIA) both managed to close above their 20-day EMAs, but they also closed above last week's highs... which qualifies for a short-term technical break out. I also review AAPL, AMZN, NFLX, IBM, MCD, BIDU, ZM, CTXS, RTN, CAKE, F, GLD, SLV and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Stocks Remain Bearish To Start Week |
The major index ETFs fell back below their 8-day EMAs last week, which keeps the charts technically bearish heading into this week. I also review Berkshire's sale of DAL and LUV shares along with a check-in on retail stocks like... M, ANF, PLCE, TJX, BIG and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Oil Stocks Starting To Perk Up |
Stocks did bounce but today but the major index ETFs remain bearish on the daily charts. I also review XOM, CVX, VLO, HES, SUN, BMY, CLX, K, LMT, RTN, TSLA, LK and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Down We Go (again)... |
The major indexes all rolled over today and closed below their 8-day EMAs. If the recent lows can't hold, another leg of selling pressure could easily materialize. In tonight's video I cover SPY, DIA, QQQ, IYT, SMH, XLF and AAPL. Have a great day! Ron |
S&P 500 and Dow At Key Resistance Level |
The S&P 500 (SPY) and Dow Jones (DIA) ETFs have both been rejected at their respective 20-day EMAs on the daily chart. A close above this key moving average would trigger a short-term technical buy signal. If they close beneath the 8-day EMA, this would trigger another technical sell signal. One way or the other, we'll likely see some 'action' in the next few days. I also cover SHAK, PZZA, DPZ, BAC, ELY, RTN, ALLY, NVDA, NFLX, AMZN, GLD and more. Have a great day! Ron |
NFLX, NVDA, AMZN Trigger Buy Signals |
The QQQ's have now closed two out of the past three days above its 20-day EMA. NFLX, NVDA and AMZN have all triggered technical buy signals. Month and Quarter-end is tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how the end of the week plays out. I also cover TSLA, MSFT, GOOGL, FB, AAPL, F, GE and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Stocks Trying To Bottom - What To Watch For This Week |
The S&P 500 and Dow Jones both printed weekly bullish engulfing patterns on Friday. If the recent lows do not hold, the SPX's downside target could be 300 points below the recent low. The Dow Jones' downside target could be 2,000 to 3,000 points below its recent low as well. I also cover AAPL, XOM, XLF, IYT, SMH and more. Have a great week ahead! Ron |
Dow Gains 1,351 Points - Bad Jobs Data Priced In (for now) |
The massive jump in unemployment claims seems to be priced into the markets (for now) as the Dow tacked on another 1,351 points today. After a mega three-day win streak, Friday could easily be a profit taking day ahead of the weekend and month & quarter-end. But, if the bulls can close the Dow (and S&P) above their respective 20-day EMAs, the next upside target would be a 50% retracement off their recent highs. I also cover AAPL, GOOGL, BRK/B, CSCO, MSFT, AMZN, BIG, MCD, EAT, WORK, NCLH, DAL and more. Have a great day! Ron |
First Two Day Rally In Six Weeks But... |
The S&P 500 had it first two-day rally in six weeks but the bulls couldn't hold onto the highs by day's end (indicating a lack of confidence). Caution remains warranted as we head into month and quarter-end. I also discuss HLT, MAR, H, TGT, COST, WMT, GS, JPM, MS, CVX, KO, EA, RTN, CAKE, MCD plus cover a staggering return on XOM long puts as a protective instrument. Have a great day! Ron |
Dow Rallies 2,112 Points - The Bottom or A Bounce? |
Stocks surged right out of the gate and closed at their highs of the day. If the bulls want to call this a 'bottom', they will need to hold yesterday's intraday lows. If the markets roll over again and take out yesterday's lows on a closing basis, it could lead to another few thousand point drop in the Dow. I also cover AAPL, NKE, MSFT, PLAY, GOOGL, WFC, XLF, GS, V, HAL, BIG, MGM, KBH, ZM, COST, WMT, CTXS and more. Have a great day! Ron |
No Deal Results in Sell Off |
The Fed launched its latest bazooka today but at the end of the day, Congress couldn't get a deal done due to continued infighting on 'who' can save us better. The bears remain in charge. I also cover the massive bid/ask spreads on AAPL, which is making it nearly impossible for debit or credit spreads to be used. I also cover NFLX, BRK.B, MA, V, EBS and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Stocks Remain in Freefall Ahead of Monday's Open |
Stocks finished Friday at the lows of the day, which is not a good omen for Monday. New (lower) support levels are provided inside the video. I also discuss AAPL, MCD, HD, LMT, HAL, BAC, DE, WMT, COST, IYT, XLF, TLT, GLD, SLV and more. Have a great week ahead! Ron |
Reversal Patterns Starting To Appear |
There are some reversal patterns starting to appear in the markets. Tomorrow is 'quad witching' so we may see some extra back and forth movement throughout the day. In tonight's video I cover MCD, DRI, CAKE, EXPE, RCL, SMH, IYT, CAT, DE, RTN, HD and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Dow Drops 1,338 Points - Closes Below 20k |
The news media's relentless fearmongering is doing nothing to help stocks, as they continue their free fall around the world. On the positive side, Fedex and UPS were two bright spots today. We also cover AAPL, FDX, HD, AMD and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Dow Breaks 20,000 Before Rallying |
The Dow Jones broke below 20,000 today before staging a rally to finish in the green. The bulls will need to at least start with back-to-back green days before the bears will even remotely take them seriously. I also cover EAT, DRI, SBUX, MCD, TSLA, NVDA, AAPL, F, GLD, SLV and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Dow Drops 2997 Points |
The markets hit limit down again this morning, tried to rally only to close back at the lows of the day. If the Dow keeps going at this rate, it will only take 7 more days to reach Zero. It appears Dow may need to visit the 2016 Election lows at this point, around 18,000-ish. Have a great day! Ron |
Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq - All Hit Limit Down Tonight |
The Futures market opened at 6pm ET tonight and it only took 16 minutes for the S&P 500 Futures to hit as low as they can go until the 9:30am ET open on Monday. Tomorrow should be interesting to say the least. Have a great day! Ron |
Dow Crashes 2,352 Points, VIX Hits 76 |
Today's pervasive selling pressure has the scent of a margin calls in equities, gold and bonds. With the Dow Jones ETF (DIA) closing below the Dec 2018 low, it seems Dow 18k to 20k is a real possibility as that is where the next major support zone resides. I also cover AAPL, BA, XLF, TSLA, FB, MAR, HLT, RCL, DRI, BKNG, GOOGL, AMZN, WMT, NVDA, NFLX, KO, PEP, LMT and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Dow Pummeled 1464 Points - Breaks To New Lows |
The inverted hammer from Monday and the hammer from Tuesday had no follow through today and the result was... carnage. The Dow Jones broke to new lows, which is not a good sign. The Dow led the decline and now it is doing it again. Dow 22k-ish (the Dec 18 low) is the next major support level. I also discuss AAPL, VIX, BAC, NOV, UBER, XLF RTN, MAR, TSN (even the chickens are sick), GLD, TLT and more. Have a great day! Ron |

Dow Craters 2,013 points, Oil & Bank Stocks Crushed |
The major indexes hit 'limit down' on Sunday night and were locked there for much of the overnight trading hours. Once 9:30am ET arrived, a circuit breaker was quickly hit, halting trading and then the carnage continued once the stock market reopened. The major indexes are now re-entering oversold territory on the daily charts. Today's selling pressure was helped by the fact that Saudi Arabia and Russia decided to declare an 'oil war' (causing crude oil to crash) and there were reports of forced margin calls, which helped to add to the ferociousness of the sell off. In tonight's video cover a ton of stocks like GLD, GDX, WFC, BAC, CIT, JPM, C, PNC, USB, HES, APA, CLR, MUR, HAL, SLB, XOP, WMT, COST, EEM, RSX, FXI, EWG, WYNN, RCL, UAL, FB, DLTR, AAPL and more. Have a great day! Ron |
What To Watch For This Week |
Stocks went on another roller coaster ride this past week and at one point on Friday, it looked like we might test the recent sell off lows from Feb 28. Despite the end of day rally on Friday, the daily charts remain firmly bearish to start the week. Key price levels to watch are inside the video. I also discuss: - Gold's inability to break out - Silver (and miners) significant divergence - Bonds' parabolic and overextended jump - Outperformance by WMT, COST, NFLX, CLX - Saudi Arabia's alleged increase in oil output (CVX, XOM, SUN) - Review foreign ETFs... China (FXI), Japan (EWJ), Hong Kong (EWH) - Additional stocks: WYNN, RCL, DAL, EAT, SBUX, GOOGL, FB, AAPL and more. Have a great week ahead! Ron |

Fed Cuts Rates, Markets Sell Off |
The Fed unexpectedly decided to cut rates 50 basis points today, which initially sent stocks flying higher only to reverse and finish well into the red by day's end. The bears remain in control of the daily charts. Key targets to watch are inside the video. I also discuss AAPL, KO, WYNN, HLT, MAR, LYFT, CCL, UAL, GLD, SLV, GDX and more. Have a great day! Ron |

I also cover AAPL, GOOGL, NFLX, NVDA, BA, RCL, CCL, DIS, UAL, DAL, RTN, LMT, EXPE, GLD, GDX and more. Have a great week ahead! Ron |
Dow Plunges 1,300 points... |
The Dow plunged 1,300+ points, S&P lost over 130 points and it was pretty much carnage everywhere. Fears of the coronavirus spreading and commentary out of the Fed that the 'Fed Put' may be removed didn't help much either. Friday is likely to also prove to be a wild day given what's happened this week already, which could end up in a short-covering rally into the weekend but if it can't materialize... it could easily turn into another sell off like today. We also cover VIX, AAPL, XLF, GLD, SLV, GDX, TLT, TSLA, SPCE, RCL, CCL, WYNN, IBM, K, JNJ, PG, DIS, BA, FB, AMZN and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Rally Fizzles, Stocks Finish Near Lows of the Day |
The bulls tried to stage a rally intraday and failed. The bears quickly pounced and sent the major index ETFs back down to the lows of the day. The QQQ's did manage to eek out a small gain. Banking stocks continue to get hit hard. Given we've just had three straight heavy selling days, the chance of a rebound on Thursday or Friday is definitely possible. We also discuss MAR, HLT, H, BKNG, AAPL, XLF and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Markets Crashing, Support Still Far Off |
You've probably heard the saying... 'Stocks rise in an escalator and fall in an elevator' and that is exactly what is happening right now. The major indexes are now in the red for the year... just like that. Support targets are inside the video. We also discuss AAPL, DIS, PANW, LVS, WYNN, THC, MSFT, CAT, AMZN, DPZ and more. Have a great day! Ron |

We also cover how to use a potential trailing stop in stocks headed for the 'moon' in the likes of Virgin Galactic (SPCE) and Tesla (TSLA), along with a review of AAPL, FXE, FXB, USO and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Apple Lowers Guidance Due To Virus Concerns |
Earlier today, Apple reportedly lowered its guidance for its next quarterly earnings report due to supply issues caused by the corona virus. As of this video, the major indexes are only slightly in the red. Technically speaking, the S&P 500, Nasdaq and Dow Jones all remain firmly bullish on the daily and weekly charts. We also cover GLD, TLT, EXPE, CC, CARG and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Stocks To Watch: NVDA, KHC, BBBY, WIFI |
The major indexes finished mixed today and remain near their all-time highs. Seemingly nothing is scaring the bulls right now. In tonight's video we cover NVDA, KHC, BBBY, WIFI, ADBE, NFLX and more. Happy Valentine's Day! Ron |
Bulls Continue To Shrug Off Coronavirus Concerns... |
The stock market bulls continue to shrug off concerns about the coronavirus and have the three major index ETFs sitting at or near all-time highs. Keep an eye on their respective 50-day SMAs for a sign the bulls are losing their grip. We also cover FXI, UAA, AAPL, CAT, NFLX and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Double Top in S&P and Dow? |
The S&P 500 ETF (SPY) and the Dow Jones ETF (DIA) both 'have' created potential double-top patterns on the daily charts (more inside the video). Nasdaq 100 ETF (QQQ) continues to perform the best, while the S&P Midcaps ETF (MDY) is the worst performer of the group. We also cover XLF, SMH, TLT, GLD, SLV, GDX, AAPL, GOOGL, AMZN, WYNN, LVS, RCL, CCL, UAL and more. Have a great week ahead! Ron |

Uber is trading slightly higher in after hours trading on earnings news, while Apple hit fresh new all-time highs (again). We also review FB, ULTA, K, GOOGL and more. Have a fantastic Friday! Ron |
QQQ's Explode To New All-Time Highs & Tesla Nearly Hits $1000 |
What a difference a day can make... The QQQ's hit fresh new all-time closing highs. SPY & DIA both closed back above their key moving averages and just like that... the bulls regained their technical edge on the charts. The DIA however, is still in a 'lower high/lower low' technical formation from its recent all-time high. The Tesla insanity train nearly hit $1,000/share today and then lost $100 in mere minutes right before day's end. We also cover DIS, GOOGL, WYNN, LVS, ICE, GLD and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Tesla Explodes, Google Down After Hours |
The QQQ's were able to regain their 20-day EMA today, which is short-term bullish. DIA did attempt to regain its 50-day SMA today but failed and finished well beneath it. This is showing investors are not confident in taking positions home near their highs of the day. Overall, caution remains warranted. Telsa soared nearly 20% today and is now approaching $800/share. It was $250 in October. Google/Alphabet reported after the bell and the stock is down about $70 after hours. We also discuss GILD, SYY, VLO, XOM, HES, CVX, USO, CAT and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Dow Jones Breaches 50-day SMA, AAPL Starts To Selloff |
The Dow Jones ETF (DIA) and the MidCaps (MDY) have now closed solidly below their respective 50-day SMAs. The bears are starting to get the upper hand. Down days are now seeing higher volume than up days, again pointing to a shift in trader sentiment. Even the 'bell weather stock' Apple (AAPL) is starting to see some selling pressure, which is another sign of a change in investor confidence from wildly bullish to more of a cautious/profit taking mood. We also review AMZN, GOOGL, ADBE, NFLX, GLD, VIX and more. Have a great week ahead! Ron |
Tesla On Fire, Facebook Selling Off After Hours... |
The major indexes came off their highs and finished near the lows the day. The Banking ETF (XLF) was rejected at its 50-day SMA, which is not a good sign for the broad market. Tesla (TSLA) has the shorts on-the-run again after hours. The stock was already up $14 during normal hours, now it is up as much as another $40+ in extended hours trading. Facebook finished the normal trading session up $5 but is now down about $14 following its latest earnings report. We also cover GLD, TLT, AVY, TNDM, ANTM, AMD and more. Have a great day! Ron |
Apple Surging After Hours |
The major indexes popped higher today with SPY & QQQ regaining their 20-day EMAs, while DIA was rejected at its own 20-day EMA. Today's rally only 'filled the gap down' from yesterday's sell off. Caution is still warranted. Apple (AAPL) is shooting higher after hours on the heels of its latest quarterly report. We also review SBUX, AMD, UTX, HOG, MMM and more. Have a great day! Ron |
