Jan 29 2018 - VIX is rising...

SPY, DIA and QQQ all finished in the red, but still remain above their 5-day EMAs, which is bullish. However, $VIX jumped 24.91% to a measly 13.84. Anytime the $VIX jumps 20%+ is noteworthy but given how low the volatility index was trading... it is only a 'yellow flag' at best. $VXN also jumped today too.
